Territory Generation was a sponsor of this year’s Christmas Tree Event in Tennant Creek, held on Saturday, December 17.
The popular community event was held after school finished for the year.
Every child from Tennant Creek and some from the surrounding district was eligible to receive a free present, a sausage sandwich, fairy floss, popcorn, icy pole, drink and a bag of goodies that include lollies and a few nick knacks.
For a lot of these children it’s the only present or Christmas celebration that they get to attend.
The event, in its 83rd year, is run by a non-profit organisation with a committee of eight local people.
Committee treasurer Helen Marsh said it was “fantastic” that Territory Generation had come on board. “Unfortunately in the last few years we haven’t been able to fund raise as much as the event has cost us,” she said.
Nearly 500 children aged under 10 benefited from this special celebration.
