We are committed to environmental stewardship and to delivering reliable electricity in a way that meets our environmental, social and economic responsibilities. Territory Generation is actively transitioning its fleet to support the Northern Territory Government’s energy objectives, with a focus on advancing innovative, cost-effective energy solutions to power the Territory’s future.

 

Sustainability framework

Carbon emissions

We aim to reduce our carbon footprint through practices such as reducing, reusing and recycling. Our corporate sustainability goals include:

  • developing a plan for environmental improvement to reduce CO2 emissions
  • reviewing our 5% emissions reduction target in line with the Paris agreement.

 

Waste discharge licence

Territory Generation holds Waste discharge licence WDL212-04, issued by the Environment Protection Authority under the Water Act. This licence governs the discharge of wastewater from cooling towers and evaporation ponds into the stormwater system flowing into Darwin Harbour.

 

Environmental Management System (EMS)

Our EMS helps us manage and reduce environmental risks. It includes policies, procedures, quick response guides and fact sheets covering:

  • Chemicals and hydrocarbons
  • Fire safety
  • Flora, fauna and heritage protection
  • Introduced species
  • Soil and water conservation
  • Waste and weed management
